ESG is becoming part of doing business

You’re seeing ESG questions show up more often in tenders and stakeholder requirements, and you want to put your best foot forward.

But you’re not confident your ESG approach stacks up, not sure what good even looks like, and don’t have the time or internal CSR team to figure it out.

What you need isn’t more guesswork. It’s a clear, credible response, backed by the right documentation and practices, so you can answer confidently and consistently.

How It Works

This isn’t just about answering questions – it’s about making sure your business can back those answers up.

We’ll work closely with your key staff through 4 steps:

1

Step 1: Review the requirements you need to meet

We’ll look at the specific questionnaire, due diligence form or typical ESG requests for your sector to identify what your stakeholders are looking for.

2

Step 2: Collect existing information and practices

Many businesses are already doing more ‘ESG’ than they realise, but it’s often scattered and disconnected. Through short interviews across the business, we’ll bring together the relevant practices, data and documentation already in place that we can build upon.

3

Step 3: Identify gaps and prioritise actions to fill them

We’ll assess the gap between what you have and what’s required, and define what needs to be put in place, from policies and practices to documentation and data, along with a clear, prioritised plan to address these in a way that is realistic for your business.

4

Step 4: Implement quick wins to strengthen your position

Where relevant, we can also put key pieces in place straight away, such as drafting policies and internal templates, calculating ESG data and running staff training. These provide an immediate boost to your performance against typical stakeholder questions while setting you up for the longer-term actions.

You'll walk away with

Tangible deliverables:

  • Credible responses to ESG questions that demonstrate your progress and further plans
  • All the information in one place, easily accessed for future responses
  • A practical, time-bound roadmap to implement further actions with clear priorities
  • Simple, practical approaches to manage and track your ESG efforts internally
  • Draft policies, templates and documentation to show evidence of action

Outcomes & benefits:

  • Maximise your score based on existing performance
  • A clear view of where you meet expectations and where further action is needed
  • Targeted improvements to meet key requirements
  • Confidence that you’re putting your best foot forward
  • Impress your stakeholders and show you’re a responsible, reliable business

  • Focused on what actually influences outcomes, not unnecessary extras
  • Practical, SME-centred approach and realistic plans tailored to your business

FAQs

What is ESG tender readiness?

ESG tender readiness means having the information, practices and evidence in place to respond credibly to ESG questions that are increasingly part of tenders and supplier assessments.

Is this only for tenders?

No. The same requirements often show up in bank and insurer due diligence, supplier questionnaires and ongoing reporting. This service will focus on whichever is currently pressing, but also prepare you to respond to others as well.

What kind of ESG questions are typically asked?

Common areas include environmental impacts such as energy use, water use and waste, employee practices like wages & leave entitlements, health & safety and diversity & inclusion, supply chain management especially risks of modern slavery, and governance including ethics and anti-bribery & corruption. The level of detail varies, but most require written responses, documented evidence to support them and data where possible.

Do we need to have everything in place already?

Not at all. We’ll work with what you already have, then prioritise what can be added quickly and what should be added over time so you can meet requirements without overstretching.

Will this help us win more tenders?

It will strengthen your responses and improve how your business is assessed. While outcomes depend on many factors beyond ESG, demonstrating credible ESG performance can make a meaningful difference.

How is this different from the Sustainability Plan & Roadmap?

The Sustainability Plan & Roadmap helps you define how sustainability applies to your business (whether that's external ESG requirements or other drivers) and the response you want to take.

This service is focused on meeting specific requirements and the right documentation to support them.

How is this different from the ESG Impact & Systems Review?

The ESG Impact & Systems Review is for businesses looking to refine and up-level their established approach.

This service is focused on getting the basics in place to meet external requirements and assessments.

Do we need ESG software or detailed data?

No. If that is a requirement you're facing, we can help you set up simple ways to collect and manage data, including systems or even free tools that might be suited to your needs, and if desired collect the data for your baseline year.

Will this create a lot of extra work for our team?

The aim is the opposite. We prioritise what’s required and help you build practices into your business without extra workload. But you should also be prepared that it may take some additional time at first until it becomes business as usual.

How quickly can we be ready?

The goal of this service is a quick turnaround for a time-pressed response. Exact timing will depend on your starting point, the requirements, and the availability of your team, but we'll focus on quick wins to improve your position as quickly possible while working on longer-term gaps.
